August 2017: 330 ml bottle, thanks to omhper. ABV is 10.7%. BB date October 2011. Black colour, minimal carbonation, thin beige head. Distinct aroma of whisky, peat smoke, oak and roast malts, hints of tar and liquorice. Slightly sweet flavour, peat smoke, oak and whisky, hints of tar, chocolate and liquorice, modest hops, the finish is a bit dull.

A: Pours pitch black with a small uneven tan head. Dissipates very quickly into no lacings.
S: Smoky and sweet malt. But the smoke is not as in a Rauchbier - rather peaty like the Islay malt whisky which barrels are used for six months maturing. Some faint vanilla notes. Some bitter hops. Strong black coffee and rather rich chocolate.
T: Again smoke (from the peat of Islay) and some sweetness to the malt. Some vanilla, coffee and chocolate.
M: Full body and mild carbonation. Long bitter and dry aftertaste is balanced with the smoke.
D: Really nice beer. The Islay Cask used for maturing gives this beer an extra dimension.

Palate: Very thing liquid with low carbonation. Hides the alcohol well.
I can't remember ever seeing a impy stout with a clear liquid. It is is quite drinkable but to call this an imperial stout is an insult to other _real_ impy stouts.

The colour is black; the finger thick head is very airy and beige. It sinks quickly leaving almost no lacing.
The smell is sweet, smoky and a little hoppy. Distinct notes of Islay whisky. Coffee, chocolate and vanilla candy. Some alcohol in the background.
The taste is not as heavy as I had suspected: Dry malty notes with hints of peaty smoke. But it is not the smoke of smoke malt, more like a whiskey. The body is medium strong. There are very weak hints of vanilla, oak wood and sour candy. The aftertaste is sweet with notes of caramel, mild Canadian whisky and chocolate. The alcohol is well hidden.
The carbonation is medium to mild. The bubbles are small and short-lived. The liquid is semi-smooth and a bit dry. I would like it smoother.
A cask matured RIS without those annoying diacetyl flavours and a nice creamy taste. Elegant.
