Clear brown with red hints, an off-white head leaving good lacing, some curtains.
Malt, nuts, hay, some sour notes, dishraggish.
Brown bread with spicy aromas, bitter orange and lemon peel.
Medium carbonation, soft, slightly oily, a rather bid body, slightly dry finish.
Not bad, much malt character, but there are some off notes, especially in the smell.

The colour is dark brown-red (40 EBC), the liquid is clear. The two finger-head sinks quickly into an uneven lid. No lacing occurs.
The smell is malty. Hints of caramel, toffee, honey and a mild clean bitterness. Spices (nutmeg, allspice) in the background. And perhaps a touch of tobacco smoke?
The taste is at the first sip quite thin, but then the malts kicks in: Some of them salty with a very mild hint of smoke. It is quite dry for an Oktoberfestbier, with some flowery hop flavours. There is a mild bitterness too, but just to keep things balanced. Some cedar wood in the background. Medium body. The aftertaste is much more in-style with münchner malt, dry red berries, smooth sweet malty flavours and a mild flowery bitterness. The finish is dry.
The carbonation is mild, the many small bubbles fresh. The liquid is somewhat heavy but not sticky.
One of the most inspiring Oktoberfestbiers I have had during the last years.

A: Pours deep, deep copper. The small head is tan and settles into decent lacings.
S: Roasted (harder than this style usually is roasted), sweet malts. Bready and nice. Hops are in the back, just as they should; bitter and slightly citric.
T: Roasted malts, but not only roasted - also artificial flowery notes - kind of detergent-like. Bitter as well as floral hops.
M: Body as well as carbonation is medium, while aftertaste is rather short and bitter.
O: I'm not impressed. This is a standard beer, that feels more like Macro than Micro...
