Pint on draft at Taco Trio in South Portland, Maine.
Appearance: First let me say that for weird reasons I'm not convinced this is the beer I was served. The tap handle only had the brewery logo and no mention of the release. The server was convinced it was El Camino White, though. Anyway, pours a slightly hazy straw with a short head that is gone quickly.
Aroma: This is one of the reasons I'm a little unconvinced I'm reviewing the right beer. Aroma is slightly hoppy and clean - doesn't really smell like a light lager. Appealing, though.
Taste: Clean, easy and crisp - a little malt and some prickly hops. If this really is a "Mexican-style light lager," as it's billed, it has way more flavor than most. Gets ever so slightly corny as it warms, but adjuncts are way in the far background. They say they make it with "flaked maize" which sounds like a schmantzy way of saying "Corn Flakes." Barely noticeable, though.
Mouthfeel: Light and easy.
Overall: If this really is a light lager, it's the best one on the planet. Tastes more like a decent Euro pilsner to me.
