Poured into a 16 oz Snulip glass canned on 1/14/2021. Pours a very dark near black with a finger sticky brown head that leaves some thick streaks of lace, with nice retention. 4.5

Aroma faint coconut, cocoa nibs, coffee grounds, and toffee. 4

Taste is much bigger and better coconut is upfront, with cocoa, coffee, and toffee lending a hand but all in supporting roles. 4.5

Mouthfeel is bigger than medium, soft gentle almost creamy carbonation, not dry, and at 8% ABV it drinks that way, but easy going down. 4.25

Overall this brewery is a hit or miss for me, but this one is a hit, especially in the flavor department. Well done. 4.25

A: Pours a pitch black color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a nice cap that leaves some good, sticky lacing

S: Roasted malt, coconut, light coffee, dark chocolate, and even a touch of dark fruit/anise in there as well

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with the roasted malt and moves into the coffee, dark fruits and anise (much more so than in the nose), and of course the toasted coconut. Dark chocolate rounds things off. Finishes with lingering roast

M: Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation

O: If you're looking for sweet, barrel-like coconut notes here, you won't find them. It's definitely more along the lines of the toasted coconut (as advertised) and the roasted malt drowns it out a little just because of the similarities in the roasty and toasty flavor profiles. A nice sipper though, and a good imperial porter overall. Just don't read too much into the coconut

I really wanted to like this one but it doesn't even come close to the nitro version they had last year. That one actually tasted like a Mounds bar. This version apparently the CO2 fucks everything up. Its still a half decent coconut porter but it just doesn't match up to what I remember. Plus the bartender had attitude for some reason which put me out.

16 oz can into a pint glass - no date on can but was distributed to Kittery, ME store on 1/26/17

Pours a very dark brown (almost black) with almost a one finger malty brownish white head. Very nice lacing on the glass.

I was surprised that the aroma is subtle on the coconut, more chocolate and roasted malt with a hint of coffee and coconut. Mouth feel is creamy and smooth, sticks to the tongue a bit and has a muted zing in the aftertaste. Not too sticky. The coconut comes through a little more in the taste as it rides on the sweet overtones. Really though this is much in keeping with a standard porter and the coconut is subtle at most.

I was pleasantly surprised I guess because I didn't really want a sweet coconut beer, trying this on a whim because I like what Liquid Riot is doing. As an imperial porter it packs a bigger punch but that doesn't come through in the flavor (in the buzz it does though).
