Pours a 5-finger brown head that fades slowly, leaving some lace. Dark brown color, no highlights. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Nose has hints maple syrup and coffee. Flavor follows with nice maple syrup finish. Smooth, higher ABV, 8.5%, not noticeable. $5.75 for 16oz from Capital Beverage, Concord, NH.

Imperial oatmeal stout! Why yes, it is! So I opted for a snifter.
The appearance had a ruddy semi-dark brown color in the pour but slightly yielded more of a dark black color in my glass. A nice level sheet of off tan foamy head capped the glass nicely. Slid off delicately to coat the sides with a filmy lace.
The aroma had a wonderful blend of sweet maple syrup, oatmeal flakes, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, sweet coffee beans, roasted coffee beans, some sweet ash, dark toast and a subtle whiff of earthy dark woodiness.
The flavor had a fabulous blend of all of the prior mentioned aromas clocking in on the sweetness, roastiness, some toastiness and coffee dryness. Mellow aftertaste of dry cocoa powder, dark toast and maple syrup.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a good sipping quality about it. A fair amount of dryness causes this to take my time in sipping. Some smoothness but it finishes fairly quick with some dry cocoa powder and a touch of sticky maple.
Overall, a bit dryer than expected but still warranting more pours.

No canning date, but my favorite local shop received some a couple weeks ago.
Moderate pour yields a 1.5 inch tan head over a dark brown body with some sticky lacing. Nose of dark malts, coffee, and slight maple. Taste follows nose fairly close with mostly coffee and a bit of maple on the finish. Good feel and overall, a nice Oatmeal Stout from Portland, Maine. Cheers for my second offering from these guys!!!
