Straight to Black:Out - Single Malt Whiskey Barrel Aged

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.

This smells like tobacco, roasted malt, dried cherry, smoke, and oak.

I don't always love scotch barrel aged stuff, but the smoke and peat on this is luckily restrained and complementary. There's a lot of roast and dark fruit here, lots of oak, you get the idea - the barrel is pretty well integrated. As it warms, the smoky and inky flavors increase a bit, but it never gets completely overwhelming.

This is medium bodied, with not much booziness, and a nice creamy drinkability.

I liked this more than I initially expected that I would. The barrel is well integrated and subtle enough to not bury the stout.
