Brewery says this is aged in Bourbon barrels. Pours a deep red brown with persistent off-white foam. Rich, mouth-filling, and foamy. Long aroma of vanilla-tinged with a nice whiff of booze.
Woody as the vanilla fades. Slightly sweet and plenty malty. Bitter finish, despite the claimed 22 IBUs. Overall this seems a little rough. Were these Kentucky Deluxe barrels, by any chance? Interesting, though, and lively on the way down. From the 32 oz growler purchased at the brewery.
