Temecula's boom as a beer town has attracted me for another round. Wiens gets the chance to impress me for this turn, and at first look inside it looked like I was really to be floored. The brewhouse is right there with the tasting room, and the tasting room is beautiful. Not only large in size, but the rustic aspect takes the atmosphere a point higher than the common "drinking in the garage" theme of many tasting rooms. But on a Sunday night, there were so few people inside.

Wiens has different styles covered on their tap list, where 10 were being poured. Styles range from a simple pale lager, a seasonal marzen, a saison, pale ale, to an IPA, Double IPA, Double India Dark Ale, and even a barrel aged version of the Double India Dark Ale. Several varieties of bottle were for sale to go, as well as growler sales and other merchandise. Most pours run for $5 a pint, though smaller sizes are offered as well. I tasted four of the beer, with the best offering being a middle of the road IPA.

I did enjoy my time at Wiens Brewery, even if the beers don't win my heart.

Amazing selection of varying IPAs the Saturday we went--perfect for me, but my non-hophead friend didn't have as much fun as there weren't many non-IPAs on tap that day. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more willing to provide pointers to a new homebrewer. Great atmosphere to enjoy several pints while hanging out with friends just feet away from the operating brewery floor. Good times!

I visited Wiens recently since I was in the general area on business. It's a fairly large warehouse location with a tasting area up front and the brewing operations in the back of the space. They had 18 of their beers on tap when I went covering a wide variety of styles and ABVs. They had special project and one off beers alongside their normal offerings. The beer was served in proper glassware and at a good temperature. Service was good the entire time I was there and the bartender answered all of my questions about their beer. They will sell you tasters, flights, full pours, and growlers. Prices were reasonable for everything. I would definitely come back in the future if I was in the area.
