More cool can art - wood carved look to the big mosaic Bee surrounded by what look like climbing Mongoose ( Mongooseses? Mongoosi??), winged fish and tiny sharks on a deep navy blue backdrop.
IPA made with honey, spelt and good intention as the can reads " Profits (one could assume all) to benefit the ALS Therapy Development Institute.
Even if I didn't already like this brewery that would be a good reason to try this.
Color is buckskin tan though bright yellow with sunlight behind it and the haze. Clearer if decanted carefully. Firm off white head develops and stays - good drapes of foam and lace.
It smells faintly of lemons initially but as it warms a bit honey and floral notes come forward. Nice but subdued.
Honey flavors right up front with a sweet, almost syrupy smack on the lips, then a sharp hop bite of citrus ( grapefruit) and grass that drys things out quickly. Some wheat like sour notes add rather than detract making this more interesting than yummy.
Body and mouth feel goes from medium to light in that order. Alcohol heat blends with the hop bite early on and lingers along side the pleasant, hoppy after taste.
Good beer for a good cause from a good little brewery. This is a good way to spend money.
