Green can with no production date. Very cool trippy, tribal artwork but little info about the beer or brewery other than a list of hops: Amarillo, Citra and Nelson Sauvin.
My first beer from this place poured a dull, orange-amber with a clingy white head of foam. Low carbonation visible through the leather tan murk of the beer. Not "hazy" thank the beer Gods - significant chill/protein haze which I don't mind, but makes the color less "bright".
The head remains in a whispy film and ring around the perimeter, looking like the rings of saturn after I swirl to kick up the foam.
Aroma is initially citrus but interesting herbal hints waft in to make this more inviting than many of it's ilk.
Flavor is remarkable - great balance and again, interesting and unique ( at least nowadays) with real malt and grain character blending and dancing on the tongue, sharp hops flavors that don't try to steal the show and know their place in this song of Saturn.
The 8% alc/vol is deftly woven into the mix as a back up singer, only harmonizing on the finish.
Remarkably drinkable Dbl IPA with great balance so lost in today's citrus forward, over hopped IPA's. Alcohol well folded in to not detract or distract from the truly rich and complex malt/hop profile that I hope starts a new trend back towards balanced and flavorful beers rather than hops bombs.
Well done Nap Time. Your Saturn does indeed Sing to me.
