Poured into a pint glass with a great creamy head developing with an off white to tan color. Head had great retention and lacing. Appearance was cloudy with a copper / amber color. Aroma was mild with light caramel and malt notes. Taste light caramel and toffee notes with some spice on the back and a little chalky on the end which I have noticed in all their beers, I guess it' the maca. Nice creamy and full mouth feel with that maca aftertaste. All and all I think this is the best of the beers I have had from the Andean Brewing Company, still not sure about the maca

A: The beer is very hazy amber brown in color and has a moderate amount of carbonation. It poured with a finger high dense tan colored head that died down a bit but has excellent retention properties and consistently left a quarter finger high head covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light aromas of malts are present in the nose along with some hints of citrusy hops, root vegetables and sweetness.
T: The taste has flavors of maca root along with hints of caramel malts along with some spiciness from the rye and a slight amount of hop bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. There are some hints of crispness.
O: This is an interesting beer that seems to taste more like a spicy brown ale compared to a spicy IPA. The alcohol is very well hidden from the taste; the only thing that will tip you off that this is a strong beer is the hints of sweet malty flavors.

Served in a snifter glass.

Appearance: A very cloudy orange tinted brown body with heavy bubbles in the beginning creating a slightly over-sized head coming off-white.

Taste: Smooth malts, with a the right touch of sour. I will also say this it is heavy in the citrus department both in bitterness and also grapefruit sweet.

Mouth: This is the weakest property of the beer, medium carbonation which is ok but how light does stickiness have to be.

Overall: From the beginning it feels bland as the glass warms up you honestly have to say to yourself that you have winner. Not the best DIPA but impossible to dislike. I will definitely grabbing more from this brewery, and to those drinking today and beyond...Salud!

A DIPA with 20 percent rye malt and maca root. A dark, dusky liquid, red-brown with a thick, light brown head. Lots of clumps all around the glass. Slow fade leaves a thick cover. Lots of particles in suspension there's sediment in the bottle as well but my pour should have left it there. I'm guessing a healthy amount of hop and yeast related stuff clouding up the glass. Smell is sweet, inviting, and and malty with notes of caramel and toffee. Big fusel alcohol sweetness with a yeast fruitiness and give it a bit of an English character. Spicy rye scents and yeasty doughbread. Taste has flavors of toffee and dark bread with spicy rye. Hops are big but definitely East Coast. Earthy, they recall an English IPA. Alcohol is well integrated with a bit warmth, and there is a bit of a metallic mineral edge. Maybe its the maca. Some nice esters and dark fruits. Long dry finish leaves lots of hop oil lingering and oily rye. Soft creamy mouthfeel is a real winner and is matched with a silken swallow. Certainly not a session brew but is drinks quite easily and while there is a light syrupiness it wraps around the tongue very nicely. It never gets too heavy. This is a top notch sipping beer that you enjoy like a fine scotch, bourbon, or brandy. It really develops as it warms. Don't drink it cold or you will miss the delicate construction. It pours, looks, smells. tastes, and feels better cool instead of cold. This is one helluva good beer.
