330ml bottle from a Gilimart on Gili T, Lombok (Rp 40,000):
A deep, dark mahogany to ruby red colour that's almost black & is topped with a bubbly, half-centimetre, off-white head with bubbles through the body of the beer. There's a lot of coffee on the nose, more so than usual for the style, with a lot of dark malts too. The beer is quite earthy & had a dark bitterness to it, with some chocolate sweetness & some sugars helping the balance as well. The taste isn't quite as pronounced with regards to the coffee, there's an earthy bitterness with some chocolate malts too but it's not quite as sweet here either with it coming through quite weak at times. The body is a light-medium one but it could have been thicker & there was a subtle sweetness further on to keep things interesting. Overall it was a decent beer for Indonesia but I'm not sure it would do well elsewhere in a more competitive market.
