April 2012: 330 ml bottle from Hardy’s supermarket, Sanur, Bali. ABV is 5%. Hazy greyish pale yellow colour, large to moderate white head. Typical hefeweizen-aroma of cloves and over-ripe bananas, also other decaying fruits. Tolerably refreshing flavour, cloves, citrus and banana, some acidity, hardly any noticeable hops.

330ml bottle from a Gilimart in Gili T, Lombok (Rp 40,000):
A cloudy, murky amber that is topped with a half centimetre, bubbly white head that holds fairly well but isn't the biggest for a wheat beer. The nose is semi-sweet with some banana & light cloves, a few background spices & faint bubblegum notes as well; it's not overly pronounced but there is something to it at least with a touch of coriander seeing things out. It's quite lively with strong carbonation on top of what was a fairly sweet tasting beer with banana carrying on from the nose alongside wheat, cloves & various spices as well as a little more bubblegum too. There wasn't too much variety to it but it went down well enough & is definitely one of the better Stark beers.

330ml brown glass bottle purchased at Beer&Co in Bali for 32000 IDR.
+/-5% ABV per the label.
Wheat, grassy hops, a hint of coriander, faint lemon. Balanced and pleasant to drink, even if it doesn't fit neatly into a specific style (lacking the Belgian ale yeast esters to bring it into witbier territory).
Smooth, wet, medium-bodied, highly carbonated, somewhat refreshing. Not oily, gushed, hot, boozy, astringent, rough, parching, or scratchy on the palate.
It's one of the better Balinese beers I've tried of the handful that exist, and I'd recommend it as such. But don't expect a wheat beer that can give the best a run for their money.

Brought this one back from Bali. Drank from my Duvel Tulip
A- Pours a slight cloudy pale straw colour, with a fluffy White head that reduces quickly.
S - Esters of yeast and sticky sugars, maybe a little Banana.
T - Up front a nice spicy bitteness. The finish is a little sticky with residual sweetness. There are hints of citrus but not enough.
M - Light body with medium carbonation
O - An easy drinking beer, but way short of Hoegaarden
