April 2012: 330 ml bottle, from Hardy’s supermarket, Sanur, Bali, Indonesia. Brown colour, huge off-white to beige head. Aroma of brown malts and brown bread, also notes of caramel, cloves and banana. The flavour is fairly refreshing, with the same notes as in the aroma, also some citrus. Slightly acidic and yeasty finish. Minimal hops.

330ml Bottle from Soma Cafe, Ubud (Rp 39,000):
Dark caramel to brown with a cloudy body and a thin, foamy surface lacing that's slightly patchy and an off-white colour. It's a semi-sweet nose with some burnt malts and a faintly funky aroma that had some caramel and biscuit coming through before some light sugars see things out. It's similar tasting, perhaps a touch more funky with the same caramel malts although a little wheat and background bubblegum feature here too. It's quite sweet again with some lighter malts and an unusual sourness nearer the end but it's a well carbonated beer with a medium body. The beer was definitely something a little different for Bali but I doubt I'd go for it again at home.

330ml brown glass bottle purchased @ Beer&Co. in Bali for 32000 IDR.
Unfiltered. Best before April 2017 (brewed in April 2016). I'm presuming it's a dunkelweizen given its name.
Aroma brings notes of malted milk balls (whoppers), and that's all I detect. Aromatic intensity is subdued. Any wheat isn't overt. I detect no booze or off-flavours.
Taste is rich, certainly evoking malted milk balls, as well as German dunkel malts. Creamy throughout. I don't taste any overt wheat, to be honest. A simple brew, but the depth of flavour is decent.
Smooth, wet, medium-bodied, well-carbonated. Surprisingly thick for a dunkel, but it's not bothersome.
A drinkable enjoyable brew, but while it's impressive by Balinese standards, it won't dazzle those familiar with the best German and Austrian examples of the style.

Drank from my Duvel tulip
A - pours a slight cloudy mahogany colour with an off white head that dies very quickly
S - Little bit of banana not much else
T - Sticky sugar and small babana and clove
M - Medium carbonation and light body
O - A little bit watery and lacking in flavour, having said that a vast improvement on anything else on offer in Bali.
