Bugle Boy Brown Ale

I am sharing a bottle with this beer with my bestie at his house in Charlotte, NC. It poured a nearly opaque dark with virtually no head and no lace. The scent had rye and grain notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to sip with light sweet malt bade with multi grain and pumpernickel presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

 

12 ounce bottle, no dating on it that I could find. One of my friends got this one for me on a visit to NC last week. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours mostly brown with some reddish tints, and about a half inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is nice and malty, the brew smells like toffee, nuts, dark bread and chocolate. I think the taste is pretty much like the aroma, but there's also a bit of an earthy flavor noticeable too. Mostly malty but with a slight bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's smooth and easy to drink with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was an enjoyable brown ale, wouldn't mind trying it again in the future!
