Reign Barrel: Merlot Barrel-Aged Saison with Brett

16.9 ounce wax capped bottle. Served in a Teku, the beer pours a mostly clear reddish/amber color with not quite an inch off-white head that didn't stick around for too long. Not much lacing at all. I like the aroma, the brew smells like dark berries, red grapes/wine, oak and some earthiness. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some funk, herbal, vanilla and a general sweet spicy flavor noticeable too. Fruitiness gets stronger in the taste as the beer warms. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's smooth with a low/moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was an enjoyable Merlot barrel aged brew, thanks to my friend Laura for picking this up for me when she was at the brewery about a month or 2 ago!
