having never had the original berm, its hard to really say how different this apricot edition is. its a cool beer, a belgian ale base but with a yeast from wild cider, they do a lot of funky yeast stuff and source some mighty interesting strains from different fruits and elements in nature. this does have a cider vibe to it, a little wild funk as well, a real apple note interesting enough, honey, dried grass and flowers, tea, and a little piquant citrus. its aromatic and its flavorful, and for me its very autumnal, a cool beer to maybe have around the thanksgiving table. at first i dont get a ton of apricot on it, but it really does warm up well, some dried apricot sweetness then in the taste, and a fuzzy little fresh apricot note right in the middle, still subtle, or rather just real well integrated. for the slightly deeper color, there really isnt a whole lot of malt character here, kind of simple, a little sweet, but fruity in that baked apple kind of way, amazing how much of this must have been carried over from the yeast. another fun and interesting beer from these guys, cool with the apricot but i am just as interested in the original. these guys are definitely making some of the most exciting beers in the game right now, and i really cant get enough of them! this is a little winey, sharp, and thin, not as compelling as many others we had on our recent visit, but still a winner and wholly unique! also, really curious about the original...
