A single barrel of DinoS'mores aged in an imported Portuguese Port wine barrel for 10 months taking on layers of deep red fruits, stewed blackberries, and dark chocolate. The fortification of the wine adds to already silky mouthfeel creating a delectable wine-kissed marshmallow couplet. Nuances of spiced orange marmalade, strawberry, Tempranillo, and white pepper. A lovely excursion from the typical American approach to barrel aging taking us to slower days of flat bottomed barges lumbering down the Douro river towards the wine caves of Vila Nova de Gaia and the sea.

500ml bottle, 2022 release, poured into a stemless wine glass.
The beer pours a nice deep jet black color, thick, viscous, and opaque with a thin tan colored head, fizzy and loose with no retention nor lacing. The aroma is nice, rich dark berries, blackberry, cherry, fig, port wine, toasted oak, dark chocolate, vanilla, and toffee. The flavors are good, dark chocolate, port wine, blackberry, cherry, plum, fig, vanilla marshmallow, toffee, leather, and a nice earthy oak and charred character. The mouthfeel is fine, a bit thinner but it still has a nice heft body, it coats fairly well and finishes easily.
Verdict: A nice variation of Dino S'mores from Off Color. The port wine barrel offers some great complexities, lots of rich dark fruits and tannins that help curb the sweeter aspects of Dino S'Mores. It does feel a bit weaker than other versions and for the RIS style but it doesn't detract too much from the overall experience.

Dinosmores takes a trip to the red wine world with the port barrel aged DS. The stout holds up against the wine which is difficult for most breweries. Coffee, graham crackers, and grape skins are the main flavors.
