On-tap at West Lakeview's Zwanze Day. Served in the accompanying Cantillon glass.
A - White foam settles to a collar, partial cap, and minimal lace. Hazy salmon-orange body.
S - Blueberry skins and lactic acidity, with some wheat and musky brettanomyces present as well. Reminds me of Prairie Dogs are Jerks, but perhaps with actual blueberry and salt this time? Not sure it works better, but enjoyable all the same.
T - The taste is quite similar; reminds me of Troublesome, but with some bitter blueberry skins and a bretty medicinal twang in the finish. Lactic acidity, wheat, touch of salt.
M - Medium body, with pleasant carbonation. Grainy, chaffed wheat texture with blueberry tannins.
D - Pretty good beer, but not quite as good as the similarly crafted Berliner. I'm wondering if this might have just been the same beer but with a few more weeks of age? Or perhaps an attempt at recreating it? Not sure how Penrose fits in either. In any case, I enjoyed it and went back for a few refills throughout the afternoon.
