Very dark ale, just this side of black. Nearly opaque, minimal dark kakhi head. Smell is outrageous for a brown; huge notes of allspice, nutmeg and squash. Sweetish, with background toasty malts. Taste is similar, hits like a minemeat pie. Spices, roasted dark malts and finishes of baked squash with cinnamon. Smooth and medium bodied. Alcohol leaves a bit of numbness on the palette.
Unlike any brown I've ever had. The spiciness and squash add a very original dimension. Not something I'd session with, but well worth a sample.
