This 2016 gold medal winner in the German-style Märzen really shines visually—its golden-brown color is gorgeous. The aroma is light, with subtle malt notes, but nothing extraordinary. Taste-wise, it hits the mark: malty with a touch of sweetness (advertised as honey) and a pleasantly dry finish. The mouthfeel is smooth, light, and creamy, making it very drinkable.
It’s easy to see why this beer earned a gold medal at the 2016 American Beer Festival.
Overall, a very solid and enjoyable brew. Prost!

Very clear, copper in color with a slightly off white head. Nose is bready, maybe honey. Taste is is just like nose, bready and honey like. Slight bitter nite on backend.

16oz can poured into a SA glass
A- pours a clear amber color with a one-finger creamy white head that has great retention
S- caramel, toffee, brown bread, fruit cake and some fruity hop esters, slightly nutty with a hint of spicy hops
T- sweet and malty up front with notes of caramel and toffee, quickly followed by some doughy malt that gives brown bread and honey. Some floral and peppery hops mid-palate give way to an array of fruity esters. The finish gives more sweet caramel with a toasted malty linger
M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel that continues into a smooth finish, high drinkability
O- full flavored yet remarkably drinkable, well done

L: A deep gold color with a darker amber in the body, it develops a tannish cap of bubbly froth that shows good retention and decent lacing
S: Toast up front with a nutty note and some fruity and caramel sweetness give way to light floral hops
T: This has all the hallmarks of the style: lots of toasty bread, toffee and caramel, balanced with some nuttiness showing before earthy and floral hops come in
F: Crisp and clean in a straightforward medium body that's reasonably smooth

Poured from 16 oz can into pint glass. Thin white head drops quickly, zero lacing, amber color, plenty of carbonation. Aroma of malt with hint of hops. Mouthfeel is pleasant, crisp and dry. Flavor: something is off here. Too sweet, borderline cloying with the malt syrup/honey dominating the flavor. Overall: decent, but there are plenty of better Marzen's out there.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint Glass
the beer pours a crystal clear light amber color with a big foamy off white head that slowly recedes leaving behind quite a bite of lacing
The flavor and aroma are very similar; biscuity and toasty with a nice honey sweetness. There is also a nice hint of floral hops. Medium bodied and moderately carbonated, with a slightly dry finish.
overall the beer is very good for an American made Marzen. A nice beer, but it lacks the character of some of the better versions of the style.

From the pint can, it pours a clear amber color with a modest white head that soon diminishes and leaves lacing. Malty and a bit nutty in the nose. The mouth gets a nice malty brew.

Purchased as a single can from The Fresh Market for $1.78. Poured into a nonic pint glass.
L - Clear copper with a three-finger fluffy off-white head. Head stays a while.
S - Freshly-baked bread, hay, and a slight nutty undertone. A simply "fresh" aroma.
T - Flavor matches nose. A very mild toffee note. Well-balanced. Sweet on the beginning, but a bitter finish.
F - Medium-light body, with plenty of carbonation. Clean finish. Very refreshing.
O - An incredibly refreshing and tasty brew. Feels like a lighter version of what it actually is. Really nice take on the style. I'll be getting this one again.
