I bought an old bottle for a buck so maybe fresher this beer would be better. Pours yellow with medium carbonation. Smell is kind of a skunky pilsnerish smell with some hops. Taste pretty smooth with some hops. For the low ABV the hops aren't too over the top, but that could be a product of an old bottle. I guess they put some oats in this beer but it's not super creamy or anything in the mouthfeel department. I wonder if they put nelson sauvin in this? Interesting hop flavors going on but overall nothing too special.

Poured into a Delirium Tremens snifter. No freshness date.

A- Pours a semi-hazy medium amber color with a 1/2 inch off-white head that retains decently before becoming a thin ring around the edge of the glass and a small center patch of surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves small clots behind.

S- Earthy, somewhat pungent hop aroma with a hint of malt backing.

T- Bitter at first with the herbal, earthy hop flavor arriving thereafter. Bitter aftertaste. The malt presence creates a nice balance to a beer that otherwise would be too one-note as the hops are quite aggressive here. A little bit of grapefruit pith shows up after multiple sips.

M- Dry and sharp from the hops with medium carbonation and a body leaning toward the lighter side.

O- Can't believe they packed this much flavor and body into a beer that has only a 4.5% ABV. Screw session IPAs. Reach for this, if you can, the next time you want a hoppy beer that you can have four or five of without getting blitzed.

12oz bottle poured in a Fonta Flora goblet. No visible bottling date.

A: Not much noticeable carbonation while pouring. Golden straw colored brew. Absolutely no head to speak of.

S: Very floral, grassy, & clean hop aroma. Beer smells extremely fresh.

T: A typical APA in all intents and purposes, but the addition of oatmeal softens the edges. It's creamy and smooth on the palate.

F: Although it appeared to lack carbonation while being poured, there is a moderate level to be found. Not sure if the oatmeal has something to do with it. Goes down extremely easy.

O: Tasty beer that's quite different from the usual session ale. Certainly worth a visit at 4.5%, and a repeated tour will do just fine.
