16oz can poured into a snifter

A- pours black in color with a one-finger foamy khaki head that reduces to a ring

S- coconut and caramel on the nose, along with chocolate, vanilla cream and a hint of coffee

T- chocolate and coconut up front, followed by caramel and coffee as well as some creamy lactose. The finish gives coffee and coconut

M- medium-light body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and finish

From the bottom of the can: "PACKAGED 03/18/20"

Appearance: The body of the beer is black and it has a short khaki head. There's decent head retention. No lacing.

Aroma: It smells like burnt wood, some carbon, and a bit of what smells like crushed ants. After the beer sits in the glass for a bit it picks up a light bit of cooked coconut aroma. There's not a lot going on in the aroma but some of the aforementioned scents pop up from time to time.

Taste: Up front there is a bit of dark chocolate and coconut flavor. The middle of the palate has alcohol and this burnt wood flavor. There's a bit of something similar to pine at the end, with some mint.

Mouthfeel: It is full bodied and thick with a medium roasted bitterness.

Overall: The can states that this is an "IMPERIAL STOUT BREWED WITH CHOCOLATE, VANILLA, COCONUT AND LACTOSE." It has the chocolate and coconut characteristics but it doesn't feel decadent. The flavors don't really mesh well together and the alcohol plays against the flavors. It's just an odd beer to drink overall. it isn't one I would recommend or drink again, but it's an alright attempt at a dessert style Imperial Stout.

S - Smells of chocolate and coconut.
T - Taste matches the smell, chocolate and coconut, with a boozy warmth on the finish.
F - Full bodied and slightly carbonated.
O - Nice stout.

Canned March 10th 2020, bought from and shipped by Hi Wire Brewing.

It pours pitch black with a nice head of tan foam, excellent lacing.

The smell is of coconut, vanilla, chocolate and some alcohol.

Coconut and vanilla dominate with chocolate, lactose and alcohol follow up. It leans more to the sweet side than the bitter but it's fairly close. Picking up more lactose with every sip.

Smooth mouthfeel. 3 cans left and it will be a while until I have another. It doesn't have the greatest drinkability.

The rotator stout that drinks like motor oil takes Hi-Wire to the French macaroon, accented with chocolate.

Generally black, the Chocolate Macaroon 10W-40 builds a dense froth that gives the beer a dark cappuccino appearance. Its decadent chocolate, nutty and caramelized scent is balanced with the lush nature of chocolate for an overall impression of mocha and cream. Caramel, candied coconut and whipped cream bring a malty sweet upstart that extends on the early palate like milkshake.

As the sweetness extends, its simplicity turns to chocolate, coconut and coffee to suggest the likeness of macaroons and with an Americano coffee edge. Trending robust and malty, a bitterness of light hopping takes hold to reinforce the bittersweetness of chocolate and the earthiness of coffee. The roasted flavors bring out a savory edge of desserts as the robust stout character keeps the session stout-like.

Full bodied while still holding a suggestion of drinkability, its silky textures are somewhat light compared to contemporar pastry stouts. Its surprisingly high rate of drinkability keeps the beer more of a stout and less like a dessert.

16 oz can with a 10 March 2020 canning date stamp on the bottom.
Poured dark and thick into a Belgian snifter where the modest size tan head soon reduced to a durable ring and a very thin partial top coat. Decent lacing.
The aroma is more true to the intention than expected, with both coconut and chocolate evident, along with vanilla and alcohol esters.
Flavor. Harmonious, very lightly sweet and well balanced. Dark bread and chocolate dominate the aftertaste. This has an excellent bitter-sweet balance that is not nearly as sweet as expected.
Feel. Smooth full body with medium-light carbonation.
