If you can't make it to that tropical getaway, then bring a taste of that vacation to the tastebuds with Hi-Wire's fruited, sour, smoothie-styled kettle soured ale. Drenched with orange, coconut and pineapple, and its a bongo party for the mouth.
With a densely packed, slightly turbid pour, a peachy orange color and a frothy off-white cap precedes a succulent scent of orange and pineapple for a mouthwatering perfume of the tropics. A creamy and tangy upstart in taste is laced with cereal malts, pastry sweetness and a roundness of cream candy, taffy and agave.
With the creamy sweetness floating in the background, the sourness takes center stage as the pineapple and orange radiate with branch-ripe fruit succulence and sourness. As the coconut adds its own nuanced nuttiness, it also provides a creamy balance to the growing acidity. An acute tartness of lime, passionfruit, cider and wine dance about the peripheries before the ale trails into a late taste of tropical punch and sangria.
Medium bodied for sour ale, the coconut and fruit sweetness aren't enough to distract from the sour, fruity-dry finish for a highly refreshing, irresistible quite return to the glass. A medium short aftertaste of tropical fruit, premiere acidity and burlap echo briefly beyond.
