From the growler via Jungle Jim's tasting bar in a snifter.
This take on a barleywine pours a luminous dark amber
with a nice head of white foam that dissipates to a thick ring,
thin light layer, and sports nice light lacing. Nose of herbal
hops, pine hops, honey malts, light peach and apricot, and
caramel. Flavors follow the nose but fall short with touches
of honey malts, under-ripened peach, strong herbal elements
with hops and pine hop notes, and resinous lingering bitterness.
Decent mouth feel, yet outside of the style; medium light
carbonation that is prickly, medium body, lightly coating,
and a lingering herbal bitterness that is almost out of place.
Almost a maibock that is hopped up, decent but not a
barleywine. That said it is still a decent little brew and
we're glad to have tried it.
Cheers
