This extra-large version of our flagship Hi-Pitch IPA gets seriously hopped with classic West Coast hops resulting in some eye-opening dank & citrusy aromas. Expect distinctive melon and grapefruit flavors to balance out the malt in this dangerously drinkable IPA.

Hazed gold. Sharp tropical hoppy aroma and flavor with warm alcohol notes. OK balance with moderate to high bitterness. Medium bodied with a boozy dry bitter finish.

10/31/24 can bought directly from the taproom in Charlotte.
Slightly hazy light amber with frothy 1-2 white head with crazy persistence and thick lacing.
Aroma is high in floral, berry alcohols with some pine and resin notes. There are also a lot of raw grain aromas that are wort-like.
Flavor also falls short with tons of fusel, floral/rosewater alcohols that don’t taste that great. Bitterness is medium. A lot of floral esters too. This beer is a mess with a lot of sweet grain, wort character, and berry alcohol. One of the worst DIPAs I have had in a long time. Very disappointing.
Feel is medium body with low carboantion and full finish.
I hate to say it but this beer is terrible and needs a major overhaul with more careful fermentation to not have so many fusels and increase hop flavor. Really disappointing given it is fairly fresh and purchased at the brewery’s outpost in the area.

This is a very good dipa by Hire Wire. The look and smell will fool you. Where it lacks with the look and feel, this beer makes up in taste. This is a solid dipa!

Had Double Hi-Pitch IPA poured from pint can, bottom stamped "BATCH 2743" and (apparently) canned on "08/14/23," into nonic pint.
Pours cloudy deep melon-gold with 1-finger off-white head, with excellent retention, leaving a coating of overlapping rings of lace down the glass. Sweet orange and mild resin aromas off pour, as warms joined by a little hop spice, lime and berries. On tasting, begins sweet orange, with full mouthfeel and a bracing, resinous bitterness, which grows, balanced by a sticky, slightly caramel malt backbone, into a very drying, herbaceously bitter, classic West Coast finish, barely relieved by a bit of hop spice.
Except for the unfiltered cloudiness, this could be mistaken for a DIPA brewed somewhere you've heard of near the California coast, ca. 1998.

Bought for $10 six pack on sale at Piggly Wiggly River Run Mountain Brook near Birmingham.
Does not taste hot like many 9% DIPAs. I actually wonder if it’s really 9 using my buzz effect gauge.
Classic West style so very enjoyable. So happy to have them brewing here on BHAM now. Unusual place with many different games. Casual atmosphere and had fun playing ping pong and puck slide games with two middle aged women there.

On tap.
A - Dark gold pour with a slight haze and a soapy ring of lacing.
S - Nose is muted and subtle, really lacking here. Muted melon and barely any citrus.
T - Malt base is low on the detection scale with citrus and spicy citrus over top. Overall flavor is muted with peppery citrus rind coming in over top that also adds a little bit of resin and bitterness. Nice lingering bitterness on the backside that is just enough to scrub away any sweet malt.
M - Medium body with gentle carbonation.
O - Glad to have tried. Not sure what the age of this keg is. Is this ever supposed to be this way? Would like to re-visit at some point as a comparison.

I have drunk enough of this to float a good sized boat because of availability and I like tall boys. Now for a review.
Nice looking beer with pillowy head and very good lacing. I don't drink beers for looks but this ones nice.
Smell is not pronounced but nothing is in my advanced age. Melon, slight hop but I don't get much.
Taste is smooth and slightly hoppy. West coast? Not really. Solid dipa? Yep. Balanced slight citrus but not a hop bomb by any stretch.
Overall it's a very good dipa thats easy drinking and readily available so I'll be drinking more. Not the best I've had but a nice beer.

12 oz can with a 28 December 2021 canning date stamped on the bottom.
Appearance. Slightly hazy amber colored body with a short, semi-durable off-white head.
This DIPA has all hidden ABV, an exceptionally smooth full body, and below average (for style) bitterness. The latter contributes to the sense that this has a relatively mild flavor profile. There's some pine, herbal and grassy notes along with the tropical fruit notes proclaimed on the label.

Appearance: A cascading bubble show produces three fingers of foam capping the slightly hazy amber liquid; excellent retention that leaves shards of lacing
Smell: Dank grapefruit aromatics with a hint of malt; some fusel alcohol
Taste: The dank grapefruit hop flavors assert themselves at the outset but the malt is apparent, as well, bringing melon and a hint of fermented honey; rather bitter, in the middle, with the sweetness persisting
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation; some warmth in the gullet
Overall: The malts and hops battle it out early and often here but it never really comes together; I don't get much in the way of tropical fruit here

Honestly for a West Coast IPA it's quite timid can't tell if its just underwhelming or incredibly balanced but I got no real hardcore bitterness or boozy aspects from the can I have. The can itself has no date and I assume it's been aged a bit since I had it in the fridge for a month. Still a very tasty unexpected brew I picked up for just a couple bucks!
