With a double dose of cherries, Hi-Wire turns to the tag-team action of both tart and sweet cherries to give their Sour Smoothie a double punch of fruit flavor.

Hazy mauve and with rosy highlights, Double Cherry Sour Smoothie builds a foamy crown of both froth and fizz before greeting the nose with a spritzer-like scent of deep cherry, citrus, cider, light pepper and an unmistakable twinge of vinous acidity. Supple and sweet, the early taste is met with taffy, fructose, fruit juices and hints of pastry.

With those sweet and tart promises holding true, the cherries take center stage in a duet of juicy sweetness and racy sourness that play out over a drying body and a slight peppery and winey offset. With suggestions of lime, gooseberry, red grape, lemon and green apple aiding in the beer's rounded but clean lactic taste, a late palate of wine spritzer, mild pectin spice and dry burlap close the session with a slight earthy bite.

Medium bodied for sour ale, this Sour Smoothie finishes on the acidic side of sweet-tart with a brief afterglow of true cherry flavor. Its ripe and radiant character pulls this ale from the overly candied flavors of many kettle sour ales and stands extra tall with a true cherry representation.
