Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Canned April 27th 2021.
Bold and bright copper amber, with a great orange glow and excellent clarity. Some nice reams of carbonation reaching to a thick slightly off white fistful tall head. Lots of fine bubbles and staying power, yet settles to thin puck with scattered spider like lacing. Great looking, and very West coast like.
Aroma is a good hop forward note, but seems to stick more earthy qualitries. Hints of light pine and earth, but still a touch of citrus. Bit of alcohol heat coming off this, no surprise at 10%, but so far at least sensing tolerable. A mild touch of lemon and orange citrus slightly.
Palate is a bit heavy. First sip hits with nice simple bitter hop backbone then big touches of malt caramel and heavy booze. Syrupy and thick bodied but with treacle and sap like bitterness that coats heavily. Finish is an almost burnt astringency, nearly charring. Hits with a stomach heaviness more like a malt liquor.
This comes off more like a triple old school IPA, and hardly West coast at all. Where's the fruity character?

The taste follows the nose with a bitter malt hop flavor
