Known almost as much for their love of ampersands as much as they are for their love of hops, Hi-Wire keeps their hazy ale program busy with a mix of Cashmere and Chinook hops.
The Cashmere and Chinook version of Hazy&Hoppy&Juicy&Fresh kicks off with a lemony yellow, brightly diffused appearance while adorning a stark white cap. As the aromas of citrus, cream, tropical fruit and herb graces the nose, a sense of citronella comes to mind. Sweeter though to start, the beer kicks off with a light and creamy malt sweetness redolent with cereal, pastry crust and honeysuckle.
But the story is all about the hops as they slowly gain attention through the middle palate. A creamy flavor pulls from the cereal grains and teases with a candied citrus taste that's woven into a vanilla, coconut and marshmallowy meringue. With hints of lemon, pineapple, guava and passionfruit coming to mind, its a bolder taste of branch ripe oranges that carry the flavor load. A soft and herbal bitterness closes the session with a lightly bittered taste of lemongrass, verbena, sassafras, tea and hemp.
Medium bodied and providing the palate with an off-dry and creamy bitterness, the beer's smoothness but sharpness has a plump sense of refreshment with a friendly disposition. The beer finishes malty-dry and with a medium length extension of creamy tea with citrus peel accents.
