Picked up at Total Wines in Knoxville TN. Barrel Aged in Buffalo Trace barrels, single barrel batch 34.
Pours a murky darker dirt brow with some mahogany highlights small pinky sized tan head falls fast to a ring only spotty lace.
Aroma is earthy and malty with light bourbon notes in the finish along with lingering vanilla. Some light dark fruity notes after topping my glass off to full. Nose is light and not as big as you would hope or winter is getting to my sinuses.
Taste is better sugary malt notes peat hints rich earthy notes mingled wit some extra sugars popping here and there. Dark fruits maybe light anise then the bourbon notes take it to the finish , not big and over done but light notes of the bourbon barrel with a light touch of alcohol and a smooth lingering vanilla. Would say its not as in your face as you would think 11% would be more like an 8.5
Mouthfeel is big medium with fairly smooth carbonation levels.
Overall might improve with some age good flavors little light in the nose but overall an enjoyable sipper of a beer.
