Purchased as a single 16oz can from The Blue Door for $4.00. Poured into a tulip glass.

L - Hazy bright gold, with a two-finger pale-white head. Okay lacing.
S - Briny tangerine. Orange. Semisweet peach.
T - Starts off as a bittersweet cranberry, and slowly becomes rather heavy on the tangerine. A relatively light wheat backing throughout. Finishes tart, with a subtle vanilla sweetness.
F - Medium-light in body, with plenty of carbonation. Refreshing, and really easy-to-drink!
O - I had hoped I'd get all of the notes labeled on the can in spades, but only a couple really came through. A bit disappointed on the lactose content, too - it isn't noticeable when drinking, except in a pronounced sweetness on the finish. Not too creamy, either. That aside, it's a refreshing beer on a hot day such as today. A pretty good beer for summer, and definitely worth a try.

Inspired by more promiscuously named drinks, Hi-Wire brewers set their sights on the fruity cocktail of cranberry, tangerine, peach, vanilla and cream for inspiration in their sour ale.

Taking a more innocent approach, Hugs on the Beach gets all dolled up with a foggy golden pour and a frothy white cap. As its tangy fruit scent rolls from the rim, the nose is a medley of citrus, brine, wine and cream whereas its early taste is tepidly sweet with sourdough, light taffy and sweetened cream.

Much of what is sweet or creamy fades wonderfully into the backdrop as the middle palate shines with fruit cocktail. Bold orange flavors lead the pack while more nuanced red berry, light cherry and tropical fruits carry a near tropic punch character into the later taste. Trending tart and drying, the beer’s juiciness remains as the taste tightens into a mild cider and sangria quality.

Medium-light on the palate, the beer finishes off of peak dryness or sourness, stopping at a rounded, juicy and tart character. A brief aftertaste of fruit skins, sourdough, brine and burlap keep the session alive so that this vacation for the tastebuds can last as long as it can.
