16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 8/11/2022. Pours slightly hazy pale golden straw color with a 1 finger fairly dense white head with solid retention, that reduces to a minimal spotty lace cap. Minimal lacing and a good amount of streaming carbonation on the glass. Aromas of tart/sour lemon, lime, kiwi, dragon fruit, pear, green apple, citrus peel, light vanilla, and lacto funk. A bit muted but vibrant. Taste of big tart/sour lemon, lime, kiwi, dragon fruit, pear, green apple, melon, citrus peel/zest, wheat, white bread, light vanilla, hay, straw, grass, and lacto funk. Medium fruity/lactic tartness and fruit tang on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, light-medium body, and crisp/clean/refreshing finish. Balanced grainy malt, lactose, lactic acid, and fruit tang in the mouthfeel. Lingering acidic/tangy dryness, with minimal pucker. Minimal warming 5.5% ABV. Very flavorful and well balanced fruited sour all around.

Certainly adept at the tart fruit game, Hi-Wire Brewing sets its sights on the tropical fruits of dragon fruit and kiwi for a complementary and fully funded trop to the tropics! …at least for the tastebuds.
Pale straw and foggy in its haze, their Dragon Fruit Kiwi Margarita hits the nose with a tart sensation of tantalizing tropical fruit, racy wine-like scents and a pleasant must of sourdough. Mild mannered in its malty sweet taste, early impressions pick up on the sourdough, along with light agave, light cream, wafer and shortcake.
As the sourness steps in and carries away the sweetness, the middle palate is left with a juicy fruitiness of kiwi, grape, lime, lemon, passionfruit and papaya with a hint of that ever so deceptive dragon fruit character in tow. Trending high on the tart meter but perhaps shy of full sourness, the late taste is pleasant, lightly bittered and brisk with brine and dry balsa.
Medium bodied and somewhat juicy, the beer teeters on watery character as the ale desperately needs a higher rate of dryness and acidity to balance properly. A hint of salt would also have sold it’s margarita character better. Still, its an easy drinking, moderately intense ale that’s drinkable yet not remarkable.
