330ml bottle 10% abv
Appearance: Lovely russet brown colour with red highlights when held to the light, small off white head (lasts most of the way down, leaving reasonable lace)
Smell: Very malty, followed by a nice whiff of hops, also hints of molasses and tobacco and a faint alcohol smell.
Taste: Again malty flavours dominate, molasses and smokey notes, followed by a nice hop presence at the swallow.
Mouthfeel: Medium to heavy bodied beer, with low carbonation.
Drinkability: How on earth do these guys make a 10% beer so drinkable. The alcohol is very very well hidden and if you don't watch yourself, you can easily drink about 5 too many....
I recently opened a 2 year old bottle and these are my notes:
Appearance: Clear, copper red body topped by a massive, creamy beige head that displays good retention and actually leaves some good lace. 4
Smell: Mmmm, this smells delicious! Sweet caramel, a fair amount of vanilla, red fruit, light molasses and a light nuttiness. The nose could be a little stronger. 4
Taste: Malty sweet, notes of red fruit, some caramel and a light bitterness in the finish. 3.5
Mouthfeel: Medium-full bodied, with a moderate level of fairly smooth carbonation. 4
Overall: Hazard 10 has aged surprisingly well! I am going to have to buy a few more bottles to put away!!! 4

ya! south africa gets hardcore! ... . pours a beautiful tawny brown colour with a creamy medium head pool, covers nicely ... smell is of light caramel and fine cognac soaked korn flakes .. .. amazingly smooth .. .. clean, so clean, CLEAN, nice finish but the aftertaste for a beer of this heat, very impressive .. scary abv cover-up ... thank you boston!
