a boring but refreshing and rather well made kolsch. a good hair of the dog beer, thats for sure, and good for some of the more interesting and spicy menu items there. lets the beer not get in the way of the food, and the 18 ounce pour is right on. clear, yellow, and bubbly, this is a basic looking brew. has a little german pilsener and pale malt to it, but the rest of it is balance all the way. i notice some decent bittering hops on the back end of it, but the finish is really clean. a lighter medium body but not watered down in any way, i like the heft it has here, not normal yellow beer. german grain profile, but extremely mild as they go. great bubbles and it still tastes good when its warmed up a little. not my favorite kolsch, and a league below something light 8 second from elevation, which is the colorado standard setter.

On tap at Coopersmith's and served in an 18oz glass. Clear yellow like I would expect. Smells nice, a bit of fruit. The flavor was crisp and fruity and so damn refreshing. I had this after a hot day of hiking and it really hit the spot. I can't say how true to style it is but it's a good beer nonetheless.

From my notes of April 19, 2008

I was in the mood for something light yet tasty so I ordered one, let's see how it fares:

Nice clear golden colour with a 2 finger head of foam. Some lacing and the head retention was good.

The nose is very light but I did get a malty smell but not much more.

The taste had notes of grain and malt and though it was delicate, it was pretty tasty and very smooth and drinkable. It had a lightish mouthfeel and it finished with just a touch of citrus hops that lasted through the aftertaste. This one is really easy to put away and though I only had the 1 glass, I could easily have sessioned on it. Imho, it is pretty true to style. Recommended when you're looking for something on the lighter side.
