From my notes of April 19, 2008
It poured a near pitch black with some hues of red and a tan head of foam that was about 1 finger deep.
The smell was of roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. Pretty nice.
First sip revealed flavours of coffee and roasted malt and further sips gave me some chocolate...None of the flavours are in your face, just smooth, balanced, and easy drinking. It finishes with a touch of sweetness and some bitterness from the coffee.
Medium mouthfeel here and overall, this is just a nice example of the style that won't overwhelm you tastewise, it's nice and it's refreshing. Good brew.
