Served in a pint glass.
A: Deep charcoal brown. Borders on black. A dense and creamy tan head has nice retention, but sadly leaves no lace.
S: The bourbon really stands out. Quite boozy, with a fair amount of oak. Burnt charcoal and espresso aromas lie underneath.
T: The bourbon barrel seems to have taken over the beer. I like the oak and the boozy bourbon flavors, but they blot out the rest of the beer's colors. Baking chocolate and a burnt bitterness are there, but seem over matched. Finishes dry, with lingering oak and burnt wood flavors.
M: The body is rather thin and watery, but does have nice soft carbonation.
D: This beer was OK, but not great to me. I generally like beers aged in bourbon barrels, but in this case the barrels took over too much. A nice beer to try, but not one I'll visit again.
