473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase. Canned May 27, 2022.
Appearance - Semi-hazy golden brew with two fluffy fingers of white head. Good staying power and some sparse lacing lingers.
Smell - Juicy and tropical. Grapefruit, mango and melon are most prominent. A touch of candied pineapple in there too. A sliver of strawberry too maybe.
Taste - Mildly bitter, some piney bits and then a flood of fruit with grapefruit and mango and maybe passionfruit. Booze is pretty noticeable. Flavor doesn't stay on the tongue that long.
Mouthfeel - Medium-full bodied but aftertaste is thin. Carbonation is middling and finish is not really juicy, but not dry either.
Overall - Kind of a weird duck. The beer is fine and the components are there, but the flavors don't always meld, the beer is a bit boozy and lacks the substance you'd expect to find in a DIPA. With that said, halfway through the beer, you';ll definitely feel the "substance" in the back of your throat through some glowing warmth. Worth a tipple or two, but better and more well rounded options exist.
