I went here on the fourth of July. Although it isn't open on Mondays and there were no advertisements saying they would be, the place was quite busy. It's a bit of a no frills place with a dozen seats at the bar, a couple of tables and some picnic tables outside.
They had five beers on tap. With the exception of their Columbian Stout, they all treated very similarly as if they were using the same ingredients but in different proportions.
The atmospheres was convivial although the bartender seemed a bit stressed from the large crowd.

Nestled deep in the mountains of Virginia, Sunken City is truly a hidden gem. Everything from the guys behind the bar, the regulars to the head Brewer, Jeremy is top of the line. I have only had the opportunity to go here twice but I have been to dozens of other breweries and you just know a good one when you find it. The beer is fantastic, the mood or "vibe" is relaxed but excited about the beer. They have live music, food trucks and events constantly. This is basically the coolest spot in the Smith Mountain Lake area of Virginia and I would argue the best brewery this side of Appalachia. I plan to go again next summer and I can't wait to bring more friends this time.

A: Newly built and only a month old so it's long-term atmosphere is TBD. So far, so good. Clean place, seats about 20. I'm sure expansion is in their future. Lots of wood and clean lines. Unfortunately, no one was there to take us into the actual brewery. Looked immaculate. They had hops growing outside that needed to be posted, but they have time!
Q: The beer was great, as was the quality of the establishment itself.
SV: The servers were average, didn't know too many specifics of the beer itself on a beer-geek level but enough for the average citizen.
SL: Let's blame that they are new, but they only had four beers on tap, and three of them had an ABV of 4.5%. They have a huge capacity, it would've been nice to launch with several more limited varieties.
F: Well, they had chips. You can bring your own food, but something more would have kept me there longer.
V: Average prices I suppose, around $5 but the smaller beers and something like $6-7 for the IPA. For that reason, I deemed it a bit pricey. Compared to something like Wolf Hills, that has 20 on tap and charges $4 for all.

A great place with a neat theme representing the sunken city that was covered by water in the 1950's and 60's. the tasting room has a modern feel with rich wood character that looks through a big glass window into the magnificent brewery. No details were left undone and it will attract many for a long time.
