Can notes: " Hatchet Jack is a Baltic Porter that features a super chocolaty malt profile that pairs harmoniously with notes of cherry esters from the ale yeast."
Poured from 750ml crowler can. Packaged on '09/08/17'. 6.8% ABV.
Very dark body, slight ruby reds seen when presented to light. Tan cap and some lacing.
Very dark chocolate in the aroma, slight sweet fruit.
Quite a heavy taste of dark chocolate, slight vanilla, and fleeting cherry.
Excellent example of a Baltic porter, one brewed for a sea voyage from country to country.

This is a baltic porter and it's what baltic porters taste like. Very enjoyable.

A- It's a dark, muddy brown with hints of ruby red when held up to the light. The head was fairly dense and stayed around for a while leaving light lacing. Not the prettiest beer, but it's not supposed to be either.
S- The aroma is mostly dark malts and coffee with a tiny bit of hops. Pleasant.
T- The initial flavors are of coffee and dark malts. The body is mainly malty, and the cold pressed coffee they use gives it a nice coffee bitterness with a malty backbone. Not much hop presence, but just enough to balance it out.
M- There's medium carbonation which is just about right, and the body is pretty thick. It's pretty sessionable despite its alcohol level.
Overall this is an awesome beer from a very young brewery. Not very unique, but it tastes great and I don't have a single bad thing to say about it. If you're ever in the Fargo/Moorhead area, be sure to check out the brewery and try out the beer!
