Though only a pale ale, Hop Habit is much hoppier than the Prairie Shaman; it's much browner, as well, with orange-red inflection, and owns a maltier base by far—though, compared generally to pale ales, it's still pretty light in both respects. Furthermore, it's much more aromatic than either the Prairie Shaman or the Scrounger—two other Junkyard offerings that, while quite good, suffer in the olfactory area—but not so pungent that it presents more than minor hop florality. Bitter more than grassy, citric, or floral, this is somewhat solid but decidedly unspectacular effort: the weakest of the bunch I tasted (including sips of the Top Gorilla Belgian Tripel and Hatchet Jack Baltic Porter).

A-Murky, orange-tan color

S-Lightly fruity with citrus (oranges)....not tremendously aromatic but this growler has some age on it.

T-Nicely balanced. Toasty malt backbone along with citrus hops and orange peal on the finish.

M-Medium to light bodied. Maybe a bit thin on the finish but the carbonation from the growler pour might have something to do with that impression.

D-Hops begin to flex their muscles a little deeper in and again it is icitrus with oranges, tangerines and grapefruit. Solid everyday type APA.

Cloudy and luminescent orange hue. Medium sized cap of frothy ivory white head. Lace is moderate.

Nice fresh citrus smell of lemon zest and orange peel.

This beer has a good bit of hops to it, but it also has great balance and drinkability. The bitterness is nice and clean, allowing the hop flavor to come more to the forefront. Fairly bright hop notes with orange and grapefruit being the main players...some lemon oil....good. Good solid flavor.

Medium bodied and moderately carbonated.

Easy drinking and flavorful. Unique as well. This is not a cookie cutter IPA.
