Junkyard Citra-Zaic Double I.P.A. 8 % Alc./Vol. Packaged 12/17/18. "Double Up." Junkyard Brewery, Moorhead, MN.
All hazed up. Bright golden hue, Lasting ivory head. Looking good.
In the nose: Beautiful citrus explosion. Orange, lemon, grapefruit, a touch of tangerine. A little floral. Altogether delightful.
In the mouth: It's everything you've ever wanted. The classic combination does it again. Put the Citra and Mosaic in you double IPA, and you can't lose. Bright, lively, popping with citrus, tropical tones, and a touch of pine. Light bodied, smooth, and all the hops. Definitely yum.

This Junkyard mania sweeping the Twin Cities, I’m skeptical – I’ve had good experiences & bad. Let’s hope this is one of the former. 750ML crowler split with my wife while watching poor Deana die.
The pour is morning sunshine with a few floaties & close to zero bubbles. Smells like getting Lemon-Lime Pledge on your hands & then picking your nose.
Citra-Zaic ain’t from the West Coast I know, unless it’s the West Coast of Uzbekistan. The dankness is way, way too much. I’ve waded through too many swamps to enjoy having one oozing about in my mouth. The promised hops never appear. Two ounces before it hits the drain.
Three Junkyard beers to date. One excellent, two undrinkable. Pretty sure I’m done with them until the consistency improves markedly.

32oz crowler courtesy of Victory_Sabre1973, canned on December 17, 2018. It was doomed to languish in my fridge until now, first because of illness, and then because I was holding it for a potential share that never happened.
Poured into an IPA glass, this was a murky, orangey amber color, with a big, creamy, eggshell-white head that left lacey rings on the inside of the glass.
Tropical fruit and melon aromas from the citra and mosaic hops.
Very similar to the nose in the taste. Tropical fruity flavors and a melon-ish sweetness. Very drinkable stuff, with no sign of the fairly high abv percentage. Slight dry note at the swallow.
Medium bodied, with a soft mouthfeel that contains only the faintest touch of that of a typical, resiny IPA.
Incredibly drinkable beer, one I could be coaxed into having multiple glasses of, as the abv does not reveal itself in the taste. Thanks, James!

Pours a murky orangish color. The head is 2 finger, white, frothy, and has decent retention. Some of the foam clings to the glass as it dissipates.
The nose is quite full of citrus. Orange, lemon, and other citrus. Quite pleasing.
Taste - Nicely hopped. I get a lot of lemon in the taste, but it's more on the back. Orange is up front, and it turns into the lemon. Just a slight hint of pine on the backside, but very slight.
The body is thick, and full. There's some carbonation in play, and it is pleasing on my palate.
Solid, and tasty IPA from Junkyard.

32oz crowler. Poured out a hazy, cloudy, golden color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of tropical fruits, toasted caramel and floral notes. So citrusy and fruity with a sharp bitterness and toasted caramel finish.

The best thing about this beer is the aroma. Holy cow is this thing bursting with citrus, tropical fruit, and pine smells. The flavor is a bit of a letdown which is expected with anything with the vile Citra hop. Otherwise a solid new age IPA. Looks could be improved.

L-Cloudy golden color...nice lacing on glass.
S-Lemons, and interestingly enough pine. A bit of tobacco as well.
T-Sweetish flavor leans towards the fruits...lemons, oranges, ripe pink grapefruit, lesser notes of pineapple and passion fruit...just a hint of pine/tobacco.
F-Medium to full bodied....very smooth...ABV not noticeable.
O-Top notch DIPA. Very enjoyable.

Poured from crowler can into glass. Fill date is stamped as '7/10/18'. 8.2% Alc/Vol.
Cloudy, pale gold body. Two fingers of fluffy white head upon pouring, which stays around as thick cap and ring. Webs of lacing left behind.
Citrus hop aroma, with a mixture of pineapple and orange.
Taste profile ranges from sweet orange and pineapple at the beginning, with a slight pith bitterness at the end. Close to a bubble gum sweetness here and there.
Soft, pillowy, and medium to full mouth feel. Alcohol is well hidden. A scrape of resin in the after taste.
I would not call this a West Coast style IPA; the mouth feel is too soft, and there is not enough bitterness. As a newer style DIPA, it hits some positive markers. Still kind of green and sharp in its taste expressions but its mouth feel is quite a treat. I drank most of this closer to room temperature, and this seems to mellow out some of the taste sharpness.

Pours a mostly clear color with a thin white head. Smell is lemon peel with some citrus. Taste was very lemon forward with hints of grapefruit, very little malt. This 2IPA was not very good had a odd lemon pledge taste with no hint of citra or mosaic, struggled thru half of it and drain poured the rest.
