Thoroughly and utterly hazed and clouded, dull yellow color, steady slab of ivory foam atop.

In the nose: Heavy hop notes, incoming sourness, and flush with fresh fruit. Tropical & stone fruit notes aplenty.

In the mouth: Yow! Tart attack from the start, big time sour in this, with sweetness of fruit creeping out towards the end. It's a tart/fruit tango, all the way, but not much from hops, and just the basic malts. Sweet and creamy always tangling with tart. It's interesting...and tasty...and enjoyable. But, it shouldn't be called "IPA" by any stretch. It carries none of the characteristics of an IPA. "Sour Milkshake Ale"? I don't know, but calling this an IPA...what are you thinking?

It's a good sour/fruit beer, for sure, but it's no IPA. Oh, and it's also a milkshake something, if you need your beers to be milkshake-y.

i am always so critical of this style, an ipa in only the loosest sense generally speaking, being that its all jacked up with fruit and vanilla and milk sugar, and oh yeah, its sour! done in collaboration with the grossly over hyped barrel theory, i have to say, i actually like this one, and while it does nothing to bring me on board the train of this style, its objectively very good, one of the best i have had, and there are an awful lot of these out there now. for one, the souring is perfect, tart and clean and without any vinegar intensity, its lemony, which plays so well with the big citrusy dry hop profile, as well as the obvious natural tartness of the passion fruit, which stands out here in aroma and flavor well above the peach, which for me seems pretty well fermented down and out. they could have, and probably should have, stopped here. i mean, this is tasty beer and all, but the fruit and the sour and the hops all work together so well, it seems a shame to the milk it up with lactose and vanilla, which adds the sweetness that the fruit could have added, and makes it seem desserty, over flavored, and it contrasts a little too much with the clean sourness here, it makes it messy, although i still do like the flavor overall. vanilla is also weird with these hops, it brings out a green vegetal element that breaks up the cohesion of the elements a little bit. overall though, they did a lot here and it works on the whole, bubbly and hoppy and tangy and interesting. im a little bummed these have caught on so hard, but this one is well ahead of the curve...

Poured from crowler into glass. Filled date is stamped as '10/22/18'.
Murky apricot/peach colored body. Initial pour resulted in two finger white head which settles back to thick cap. Leaves behind some pattern webs of lacing.
Has a sweet/sour smell. Definitely has some fruit aroma. The passion fruit may add some sourness, and the peach aroma is there as well. The sweet lactose is there too.
Taste is very sweet with a very sour layer. Has very fruity flavors, similar to passion fruit and unsweetened pineapple juice. The strong part of the flavor cycle is quite short, and without much of an after taste.
Mouth feel is medium to full. The sweetness is close to a tooth ache to those sensitive enough. The sourness is close to a enamel scraper feel. Rather dry. Good carbonation.
Not real complex but makes good use of the combination of sweet and sour, along with the fruity flavor. Difficult to taste any IPA hoppiness (maybe a little way at the end of the taste profile, and in the gas burps). This beer drinks as it is described - a sour milkshake IPA.
