This extremely roasty Russian imperial stout was barrel -ged for one year in a variety of barrels including Jack Daniels, Proof, and 1792. With loads of dark chocolate and a heavy malt character, this mythical beast finishes dry with notes of coffee and bakers cocoa, plus hints of dried dark fruit.

Crowler can. Fill date marked on can as '3-14-19'.
Opaque black colored body. Initial pour brought forth a two finger mocha brown head. Some irregular shapes of lacing are left behind.
Aroma of dark roasted malts that suggest dark chocolate and coffee. Some suggestion of dark fruit. Barrel notes are full of bourbon and somewhat woody.
Taste of dark roasted malts, with dark chocolate and slightly bitter coffee. Dark fruits reveal themselves again. The bourbon barrel note is present but not overwhelming. Finish is dry, a little hot, and with a little char.
Mouth feel is full, with a creamy texture. Good carbonation.
Drinking this beer results in dark fudge burps. Straight forward Russian Imperial Stout with the bourbon barrel notes additions. It would be interesting to have this in a bottle format for aging trials. I think the beer would smooth out somewhat with aging.

Barrel aged, I wish I knew the barrel. Very good rich dark coloring with a dark lasting lacing. A bit if licorice in the nose and taste that seems to drowned out some of its other qualities. Very good for a mid-western sample of the beer style but having had Firestone-Walker, Ballast Point, and the like I'm still happy to have tried it, don't get me wrong. I'll summarize by saying, I liked it and I like the barrel aged heavier beers so I thank all those that venture there.
