I tried the Amber Weiss at Parliament Pub in Sandton area. It poured a hazy amber with white head that did not leave much lace. The scent had clove and some lemon flare. The taste was a nice combo of banana, clove and hints of fruit. The mouthfeel was medium in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it was good and certainly worth a shot.

Pours a pretty standard unfiltered wheat gold. Only semi-opaque, especially toward the bottom of the glass. Head dissipates very quickly, leaving nothing on the side of the glass. I’ve never had an “Amber Weiss” before, but I was expecting much more of a standard amber lager than what looks like a really standard wheat. Smells faintly sour, and taste carries a bit of tart as well as a normal wheatiness. Tastes extremely thick and aftertaste lingers. Overall, pretty normal, but I’ll take what I can get in South Africa for decent wheats.
