Big thanks to eyebereej for sending this one! Reviewed from (very) long-standing notes. Poured from a 16.9 oz. bottle into a Cycle Brewing goblet.
A: Hazy orangish gold, with low carbonation and a very thin white head that disappears almost instantly.
S: A punch of tart apricots up front with lactic acid. Modest Lactobacillus funk, but with oak tannin dryness and a touch of white wine character.
T: Sour apricots, Lacto funk, and citric acid bite. Mild biscuit maltiness. Lactic acid continues with the apricot fruitiness. At the swallow, the barrel and vinous dryness show up, and the expected lingering flavors end a touch abruptly – the dry sour acid stays the longest. Not overly funky, but there’s a bit nonetheless.
M: A light body, but seems about average for a fruited AWA. Carbonation sensation just a touch on the low side, and alcohol presence is quite low.
O: Really quite enjoyable. Never heard of this brewery before this – but I’d definitely try more. There are better apricot sours out there, but if this were on the shelf I’d be grabbing a few more to enjoy.
