Volbeat, the Danish metal band, has released its first own beer: a full-bodied pilsner. Brewed with hops and malted barley, it impresses with its smooth and pleasant taste. The beer is just as meticulously crafted and high-quality as the band's music. Whatever Volbeat touches turns to gold. Musically, the Danes create interesting compositions by blending the evocative rhythms of the rock 'n' roll era with the raw energy of heavy metal. Volbeat Beer is also a fantastic mix: a solid pilsner and a fresh craft beer.

Copenhagen 27/5 2018. 33 cl can from Meny. A beer celebrating a Danish Hard Rock Band with a byline "The Water Ain't my Brand". Sound ominous. Elvis with Hell's Angels Wings on the can.
Pours slightly hazy yellow with big white frothy head. Settles as thin layer of foam crawling up the side of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is sweet and malty. Sweet malts, cardboard, light caramel notes with an almost sugary quality. Some metallic notes.
Light carbonation. Thin, watery texture.
Flavor is medium sweet and nicely balanced by medium bitterness. Aftertaste is lightly bitter and fairly short.
I think I like the beer better than I like VolBeat. But that ain't saying too much.
