real high gravity sweet hoppy red on tap at bike café. a strange brew really, bright read and clear with over an inch of oatmeal colored and textured looking foam. it smells like sweet red malt, American, and sticky hoppy. for no apparent reason, this beer reminds me of the state of Wisconsin, its like a robust Midwestern farm conglomerate of flavors that's neither refined nor sloppy, but satisfying in a way that is quintessentially American and no place else. I don't know, maybe that makes no sense, but it does to me. big body too, almost too much, and the residual sugar is a lot sweeter than anything in Wisconsin (no offense). good bubbles, but I don't need more than a pint of this, gets a little laborious at the end. good first beer from odyssey, it makes me want to try some others. are these guys new or what?
