Rustic saison with pumpkin.
Nose of the field with aromas of sweet pumpkin & citrus. Toasted straw hue with a crisp and bright mouthfeel. Tastes of marmalade, lemon zest, light pepper and persimmon. Light minerality and tartness, finished dry.

Poured into a Nostradamus flute glass. Pours a slightly hazy medium golden amber with a thin off white head that dissipates to a thin solid film and ring around the glass, leaving nice lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, saison yeast and light fruit; spicy and vegetal, not noticeably pumpkin. Flavor of light fruit, saison and Belgian yeasts, faint pumpkin, Belgian spicing. Finishes dry and a slightly tart with pine resin, hints of clove, coriander and mint family herbalness, slightly floral. Medium bodied with pleasant peppery carbonation. Mabon has more traditional saison character than many of the previous Propolis ales, but also shows its Belgian origins and has a very nice complex lingering finish that is suprisingly pine resiny as well as herbal. There is a faint pumpkin element, but I may not have detected it without knowing it was there, although there is a sweet vegetal flavor in the background, undoubtedly from the pumpkin. Well made and enjoyable as all the ales from this brewer.
