Dunklesbiere are in general my Biers of choice. I am a strong to harsh critic, and therefore was excited about trying this Bier. It fills the glass with a clouded brown color and builds a solid billowing head. The color is too light was my first though. This proved to be the case again when I wallowed through the aroma. Its mostly fruity in the bubble gum direction with only hints of any Rostmlz. This Bier was less phenolic as the Kristall and Hefe Hell but still featured a nice amount of spiciness. In the background were subtle fresh grass aromas. Up front the Bier is sweet but is quickly balanced by a nice hop bitterness. I really liked the fruity flavor against the roasted malt. The roasted malts are a little too underplayed in this Bier for my tastes. Too mild for my tastes but a nice drinking Bier… I’d go with the Kristall from the drei Weißbier offerings.
