Serpents kiss is a pilsner from The Grifter. Haven't seen it on tap in ages.
Vessel: 425ml Schooner at the Shakespear Hotel, Surry Hills Sydney.
Appearance: Pale Golden colour. Darker than a Pale European lager, more on point with a classic Australian adjunct lager.
Smell:
Pale malt, Cereal grain. I detect a hint of something odd, I can't put my finger on it. (Edit: it's Watermelon, completely didn't see that coming).
Taste: Watermelon was not a flavour I was expecting at all. A real different flavour. Once you get past the Watermelon, it's sweet malt. No hops, no bitterness.
Feel: It's thin and watery. Kinda like Watermelon juice. Highly carbonated.
Overall: before I took a sip, I had no idea this was a Watermelon flavoured beer. Negatives, it is thin, and aside from the Watermelon there's not a whole lot going on. Positives, it's thirst quenching and the Watermelon does provide a refreshing aspect like Watermelon should.
I went into this blind (and a bit tipsy) but the Watermelon was a shock. It's very refreshing I'll give you that, but Watermelon in a pilsner. I dunno man.

$7 AUD per middy at the brewery. "Watermelon pilsner."
The watermelon flavour cheapens it, making it feel like a beer some shitty American brewery should put out in 6x330ml can format instead of a pilsner proper. More mediocre fruited lager than pilsner, but drinkable for what it is - though nowhere near as refreshing as one would hope given the beer's premise.

From the Boozebud Canvent Calendar 2022, day 21. Drunk on 25 December 2022.
L: Hazy, golden yellow. No head. Vibrant carbonation.
S: The smell is watermelon. All. Day. Long.
T: The taste is also watermelon with crisp, light malts.
M: Lightly carbonated, smooth, and matching the beer well.
O: I didn't know this was a watermelon beer when I began drinking it, and was straight away hit by intense watermelon notes, leaving me in no doubt about its makeup. A nice beer to end my Christmas day consumption.
Cheers!

Well, the label says a watermelon Pilsner and that's just what you get.
Staid looking pour, and the beer then indeed does smell and taste like 'standard beer' with a watermelon add. It actually tastes more like watermelon juice.... Having said that it's not too sweet which is a plus.
Worth a go, I suppose.
